Bobi Wine Urges Ugandans To Use NAM Summit To Expose Museveni's Governmnet

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party President, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has urged fellow Ugandans to seize the opportunity presented by the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement and G77+China summits to express their discontent with the government.

Speaking at the NUP Headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Kyagulanyi responded to Minister of Information, Technology, and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi’s call for Ugandans to warmly welcome summit attendees. Kyagulanyi objected to this plea, encouraging citizens to use this period to bring their concerns to the forefront.

He highlighted the disruption of lives and businesses, with over 3000 establishments affected, while benefits allegedly go primarily to a select few political elites.

Kyagulanyi also sent a message to the leaders participating in the summit, asserting that they are being hosted by what he described as an illegitimate government.

 

 Kyagulanyi criticized President Museveni’s recent appointments to the Electoral Commission (EC), expressing concerns about bias and potential threats to a fair election. When questioned about NUP’s participation in elections organized by the new commission, the party spokesperson and leader of opposition in parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi emphasized that the electoral process extends beyond election day and includes rejecting appointments they perceive as biased.

Kyagulanyi also criticized the government’s swift attribution of gun attacks to ADF rebels without conclusive investigations. While acknowledging the existence of ADF rebels, he suggested the government might be orchestrating these crimes. He referenced a recent tweet from Mityana Municipality expressing concerns about threats to his life.
